Doris Fleming resides with her husband, Art, in Lakeside, Montana. They are presently on staff with YWAM (Youth With A Mission), serving in the Local Church Equipping department, and also serving with another organization called Rural Shepherd's Network. Until a year ago Art and Doris served in pastoral ministry, having served churches in Alberta Canada, Oregon, Washington and Idaho over the past 35 years.
Doris was born in wild rose country (Alberta, Canada) and was raised milking cows, pitching hay, and slopping pigs. Oh yes, somewhere in there her Mom also taught her how to bake. Upon graduation from high school she attended Mountain View Bible College in Didsbury, Alberta where she met Art, her husband. They were still "wet behind the ears," as some would call it, when they entered pastoral ministry. God has blessed them with four fantastic children, who are all grown now, extending the family line with seven grandchildren, and the eighth on the way.
A year and a half ago God called Art and Doris away from the comfortable setting of pastoring a local church and launched them into a ministry of nurturing, equipping and networking pastoral couples, both in the Pacific Northwest and around the world (specifically India, Nepal, Thailand, Myanmar and Ukraine). The passion that is burning a hole in Doris's heart is for the well-being of pastor's wives, as she believes God is directing her to champion them.
Doris recounts the many wonderful ways Jesus has loved, cared for, and ministered to someone who thought of herself as nothing more than a stupid little farm girl; how He opened her eyes to the truth of who He is, who she is, and what He has equipped her to do. She would really be most content to simply say of herself: I love Jesus; and what's more, Jesus loves me. And I am so very grateful.
